Terms & Conditions

These basic Terms of Service govern the engagement of J.J Electrical (referred to as "we," "us," or "our") for services by the Client ("you").

2. Quotations and Booking

2.1 Quotations

  • All quotations are free and valid for 30 days.

  • Any changes to the work scope or additional work requested on-site must be agreed upon in writing before being carried out.

2.2 Deposits

  • Medium Projects: A deposit (typically 20% to 40%) may be required for materials and scheduling.

  • Large Projects: A staged payment schedule will be agreed upon in advance.

  • Work will only be scheduled once any required deposit has been received.

3. Payments and Invoicing

3.1 Invoicing

  • Invoices are issued upon completion of work, or at agreed stages for larger projects.

  • We reserve the right to withhold certificates and documentation until the invoice is paid in full.

3.2 Payment Terms

  • Standard Clients: Payment is due within 7–14 days of the invoice date.

  • Commercial Clients: Payment is typically due within 30 days.

3.3 Late Payments

We reserve the right to:

  • Charge a fee for overdue invoices.

  • Suspend any ongoing or future work until outstanding amounts are settled.

4. Cancellations and Call-Outs

4.1 Cancellations

  • Jobs cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time may incur a cancellation or call-out fee.

  • Deposits for custom-ordered materials are non-refundable once the order has been placed.

4.2 Call-Outs

  • Standard call-out fees, where applicable, are due at the time of attendance.

  • Higher rates apply for emergency call-outs (evenings, weekends, holidays), which will be confirmed with you beforehand.

5. Workmanship and Liability

5.1 Workmanship Guarantee

  • All workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months against defects resulting from installation errors by us.

  • This guarantee does not cover: damage caused by misuse, external factors, or interference by others.

5.2 Material Warranties

  • Materials and equipment are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. We will assist with manufacturer claims where possible.

5.3 Basic Liability

  • We aim to carry out work safely and professionally. Our liability for loss or damage is limited to the value of the service provided.

  • We are not responsible for:

    • Pre-existing faults or issues with your property's wiring.

    • Damage caused by old, unsafe, or non-compliant wiring discovered during our work.

    • Loss of profit or business disruption caused by necessary downtime.

6. Client Responsibilities and Site Access

  • The Client must provide safe, unobstructed access to the work area.

  • The area must be made free from hazards (e.g., clearing items, disclosing known issues like asbestos).

  • The Client is responsible for protecting or removing valuables.

  • Making good (e.g., patching plaster, decorating, flooring) after necessary access work is not included unless explicitly stated in the quotation.
